Beth Ames Swartz has had over 70 one-person art exhibitions including a solo show at The Jewish Museum in New York as well as three major traveling museum exhibitions. She received the Governor's Individual Artist Award in 2001 in Arizona, and a retrospective of her work was mounted in 2002 at The Phoenix Art Museum, with a monograph about her work co-published by The Phoenix Art Museum and Hudson Hills Press. Swartz was honored in New York in 2003 by the Veteran Feminists of America for her outstanding contribution to the Arts nationally.

Jaxine employs pastels, acrylics and mixed media.

Many of Jaxine’s fine art pieces are also exhibited at The Arizona Art Alliance Gallery at Talking Stick Pavilions, in Scottsdale. She was an active Board Member when the Arizona Pastel Artists’ Association was founded by Ruth Palmisano; was Historian, Show Chairman and Past President of Phoenix Artists Guild; and is a juried member of the Arizona Art Alliance, Arizona Artists Guild, and Scottsdale Artists League.

In my art, I work with the medium that best suits the idea I have. This has included oil on canvas, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and public participation pieces. I am known to work with hand-collected pigments/sands, found objects, and different paints, and/or drawing processes.

The ideas I work are layers, contained chaos, simplicity, the abstract, landscape, architecture, math, color, opposites, geography, geology, and the process of change.

I graduated from ASU Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Painting, but I find that the more time passes the more I see that it didn't matter where I studied, but just that I continued to make art.
