Buckeye is looking for artists to paint a mural for a wall at the Verrado Way/Van Buren St. water well. The town is calling on Arizona-based artists, groups and organizations to submit their qualifications for this public art project.
Two finalists will be selected to develop a design. Each will receive $1,000.

The chosen artist will create a compelling design for a 200-foot long, 8-foot high western-facing wall. The central theme is “desert storms/desert rain,” requiring a design with bold colors and easily recognizable shapes that will be clear to passersby and reflect the interests and community standards of Buckeye residents of all ages.
The Buckeye Community Services Advisory Board will select the artist, whose design will advance to the production phase, and will receive an additional $56,000 for the mural’s creation.
We seek artists with proven experience in large-scale mural work and a strong portfolio. Successful applicants will demonstrate their ability to engage with the community and stakeholders, ensuring the artwork genuinely reflects Buckeye’s values.
Deadline: August 28, 2025
