Lisa Albinger’s current body of abstract work speaks of one’s relationship with their body, the frailty and strength of the mind-body relationship, and sexuality.

My work has morphed over the years, simply because I’m always discovering new pathways within my psyche. 2013-14 brought the shapeshifting animal and human figure to the forefront and was well received.

Marianne Kasparian’s Raku, Stoneware Pottery, Fun and Fine Jewelry handmade by Marianne “MAK” Kasparian in Phoenix, Arizona.

Raku pottery was made long ago for Japanese tea ceremonies. It was modernized later into the process you see today. This involves taking a piece of pottery that has been bisque fired and glazed then firing it in a raku kiln (which my husband and I built ourselves). The piece is then fired to about 1800 degrees F and pulled out of the kiln while still red hot then placed in a reduction chamber containing organic materials such as newspaper, sawdust, leaves, etc.
